Dr. Joseph Hahn

Director, US Companion Animal and Equine PV

Dr. Joseph Hahn, DVM is the Director of Companion Animal and Equine Pharmacovigilance at Merck Animal Health.  He joined the company in 2009 and has spent the majority of his time in high Lyme and Lepto areas of the Midwest educating practicing veterinarians and staff on Vector Borne Disease prevention.  Dr. Hahn is an accredited RACE speaker for Lyme, Leptospirosis and CIRDC/CIV and has presented lectures on these topics nationwide.  


Prior to joining Merck Animal Health Dr. Hahn was in practice for ten years.  His last six years in practice were with Chicago Veterinary Emergency Services, the only emergency clinic in the city of Chicago at the time, with an average monthly caseload of 120 cases.  It was during that time, that he gained the experience with both Lyme and Leptospirosis as both are endemic to the Chicagoland area.  


Dr. Hahn received his DVM degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.  During his time in veterinary school, he was responsible for tutoring the upcoming class on their current materials and worked as a staff/technical writer for the continuing education public service department (CEPS).  With CEPS, he published approximately four articles per month on various companion animal and equine topics that were picked up in publications nationwide.
